The Conservatorium Academy is a centre for creative and performing arts for school-aged children and is part of the School of Education and the Arts at CQUniversity.
'Our aim is to provide a safe, educational and recreational environment, with high-energy, fun classes taught in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere'
Operating out of our fully equipped studios and teaching spaces at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at the Ooralea Campus of the CQUniversity, students will have access to professional facilities, and outstanding teachers and tutors. In addition, they will also interact with internationally acclaimed visiting industry professionals who work with the Bachelor of Music and Theatre students at the CQUniversity.
Previous internationally acclaimed music and theatre professionals who have worked with the CQCM students include, Chloe Dallimore (Sydney), Peter Cousens (Sydeny), Glen Hogstrom (Melbourne), Jason Langley (Melbourne), John Morrison (Sydney), Jeff Jarvis (USA) and Dan Barnett (Sydney). The full-time staff of the music and theatre programs are also internationally recognised artists who have tutored graduates who are now working professionally in music and theatre in Las Vegas, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, South-East Asia, United Kingdom and Europe.
We endeavour to help each student develop a love of music and theatre and all it has to offer, whilst maintaining their own personality and individuality within a high quality and rigorous program. This booklet will provide some helpful information for parents and students to refer back to throughout the year.
Professor Judith Brown AM Director, Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music CQUniversity, Australia
Hi, I'm Miss Ella!
I have always loved everything performing arts. The last twenty years have seen me singing, dancing and acting across many different platforms. After many years of tap, jazz, ballet and singing lessons, I moved to Mackay in 2013 to complete a Bachelor of Theatre (Specialisation Musical Theatre) at Central Queensland Conservatorium Mackay.
While completing this degree, I had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in Australian musical theatre on some amazing shows. These included Brigadoon, 42nd Street, The Sentimental Bloke, Chicago, Guys and Dolls and Necessary Targets. I love learning, and working with these directors was an amazing opportunity to broaden my performance knowledge and technique.
I am so excited for 2020 at Con-Academy, this is a program that I love.
'I am passionate about letting students learn and grow in a nurturing, safe and professional environment and watching them find their feet as young performers!'
I can't wait to get started with another fun filled year, to keep passing on all the wonderful things I have learnt as we continue to grow, learn and have fun together.
I look forward to seeing lots of familiar faces and lots of new faces in 2020 at Con Academy!
